FAQs

Here you can find the answers to my most frequently asked questions.

How do I book you? Can I provisionally book you?

The best way to book me is to contact me with as much information as you have using my contact form. I will usually reply within 24hours with a quote or some more questions. To secure a date I require £100 non-refundable deposit. 

How long do you perform for?

I have different packages and set options you can choose from. Usually these are 1x60min 2x45min or 2x60min. This includes up to 30mins of background/party music in-between sets. If you require music for longer I usually charge an additional £50 per hour for this service. Alternatively I have a list of excellent DJs that I can recommend.

How much time do you need to set up?

If I can park close to the entrance and it's an easy load-in to the space where I'm performing,  I usually require 1hour to set up and soundcheck. If setting up my SOULTOWN show it may take slightly longer due to the extra lights and equipment. Pack down time is roughly 45 minutes.

How is it best to time things?

Every event is different. If I am performing at an evening party it's best to plan my sets for a different time to when food is being served. If I am working alongside a DJ it is normally good to let them do the last 30-60 mins of the evening. I am happy to discuss with you the best timings for your event. 

Can I choose my favourite songs?

I love to know what songs you like!

Please feel free to choose a few songs from my current repertoire, you can find this info on the set shows & list page. I prefer to choose the order and read the room as I go. Please do tell me if there are any songs you would like me not to sing.

If you would like me to perform a song special to you that I don't currently cover this may be possible. For this service I charge £25 and need a minimum of 30 days notice. 

Can you DJ in-between sets?

I am not a  DJ. However I include up to 30mins of background/party music in between sets as part of my standard package. If you require music for longer I usually charge an additional £50 per hour for this service.  I have a large database of songs and great taste in music so I am happy to help keep the party going or played chilled background music as required. I do not stream music so requests might not be possible.

Please let me know well in advance if there is a specific artist/song/genre which you would like to be played so that I have time to prepare this for you. Alternatively I have a list of excellent DJs that I can recommend.

What type of venues can you perform at?

As a solo performer I can be really flexible. Venues and stages come in all sizes and I have the ability to adapt my set up accordingly.  A minimum of 2.5m x 2.5m is ideal but I have played in a tiny little conservatory before. 

Got a large stage? Awesome! I've got a large PA and extra lighting to fill the stage and room with dynamic sound and lighting. I've performed at festivals and large corporate events as well as relaxed house/garden parties. 

Can you provide a stage?

Although I don't have my own staging, I often work alongside an amazing company called MOSounds that can provide indoor and outdoor stages as well as sound and lighting. Use my contact me form for more details.

Can you play outside?

I can. I will require is a flat level surface, preferably with a hard base, a reliable power supply close by and some form of shelter. This could be a gazebo/ parasol in fair weather. It's always a good idea to have a back-up plan in case the weather is not on our side.

Can we use your microphone to make a speech?

It may be possible for you to use my sound system for speeches, but my usual vocal microphone is not suitable. If you let me know in advance I will bring a more suitable microphone for you to use. I will need to charge a little more if you need me to arrive earlier or stay longer for this service. You will also be responsible for any accidents and damages to the microphone whilst being used.

What equipment do you use?

I only using high-quality backing tracks and professional sound and lighting equipment. I have two PA systems. For small and medium sized events I use. a Bose L1 Mk2. For very large rooms I use my Yamaha system consisting of a professional Yamaha desk and Yamaha DSR115 15" speakers. This means I can tailor my sound and most importantly the volume to the size of your event.
I also bring my own dynamic lighting, backdrop and haze machine (when suitable).

How far do you travel?

I am based in Northamptonshire and am happy to travel throughout the UK and internationally.

Is there anything else you need?

I need access to the room/stage between 60-90mins before the beginning of my performance. I will need a parking space close by and a room in which I can change. I require water/soft drinks, and if I'm required to travel a long distance or am performing across more than 3 hours then I require a meal to be provided.
